The studio

Series, films and games from one shared pixel world.

Aethervale is a studio for stories on every screen. Everything we tell comes from the same library of characters, places and motion.

Village square, Dusk

Sky and valley

Where the name comes from.

Aethervale joins two words: the aether, the wide sky of imagination, and the vale, the cozy place where stories feel at home.

Our mascot stands right in between – on a floating rock island beneath the crescent moon.

How a scene comes together

Our process, from first need to new episode.

  1. Check the library

First see what already exists. Reusing comes before redrawing.

  2. Block out the scene

Test perspective, sizes and the action zone on a 360 × 640 pixel canvas.

  3. Draw the pieces

Silhouette, colors, face, light and poses – step by step, by hand.

  4. File it

Source, exports and provenance go into one package so everything stays reproducible.

  5. Check the timing

Test motion at native and triple size, in the context of the scene.

  6. Sign off

Only after review is a piece released and used for new episodes.

What matters to us

Three principles behind everything we make.

  • Drawn, not generated

    Real pixel art

Every character, every cloud and every game piece is real pixel art, made in our own toolkit.

  • One world for everything

Series and games share it all

Characters, colors and scale are shared. What starts in an episode can live on in a game.

  • Cozy, no tricks

    Fair from the start

No fake near-wins, no difficulty tuned to how likely you are to pay. Playing should feel good.

Who's that?

Our mascot.

A dark hooded figure with glowing eyes and a lavender scarf that turns into a cape. It doesn't have a name yet – suggestions are very welcome.
